Destiny's Child Lead singer and Austin Powers' newest star Beyonce Knowles took over the Cascade Family Skating Center on Martin Luther King Drive on Saturday to celebrate her 21st birthday. Entertainment Productions was hired to transform the rink into a replica of the one seen in the newest Austin Powers movie GOLDMEMBER ®. Hundreds of Atlantans and others joined the star at this invitation-only event that required guests to wear, "funky fresh '80s gold and white attire."
Among the celebrity guests: Knowles' group mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams; rapper Jay-Z with proteges Beanie Sigel and Freeway; OutKast's Big Boi; R&B darling Monica; producers Jermaine Dupri and Dallas Austin; neo-soulster Musiq; hip hop's Redman; the soulful quartet Jagged Edge; funk/rock queen Joi; Vibe magazine editor-in-chief Emil Wilbekin; basketball star Dominique Wilkins, Olympian Carl Lewis and the two remaining members of the recently downsized hit girl group 3LW.
As for budding actress
Knowles, she spent most of her time deftly wheeling around the rink
to mix of new and old school jams provided by DJ Biz Markie. The star-filled
bash was best summed up by one partygoer who was on his cellphone talking
to a friend. "Everybody is here," he said. "Evvvvverybody!"
